Do you know this feeling?
You just KNOW you can make your business grow, lose that fat or bring in that big fat promotion.
For some reason you just can’t seem to actually make things happen, and you’re not getting the results that you want.
While there may be various reasons, i.e. lack of skills or lack of action and making progress, there’s a good chance you may be sabotaging your own success!
How you may be writing a “death note” to your dreams
Firstly, you might be wondering what I mean by “writing a death note”. So let me quickly go ahead and explain how I got to this blog post topic.
Fun Fact: You probably don’t know this about me, but I actually love watching anime series. Which is like a sort of Japanese cartoon style series, in case you didn’t know. :)
Flashback to last weekend:
I was pretty much binge watching this show called, you guessed it: Death Note. (one of the best shows I’ve ever seen by the way, recommend watching it)
In a nutshell, there’s this notebook and whoever’s name is written in it, will DIE! What follows is a thrilling cat and mouse game that grabs you until the very end. But… I’m not here to talk about the storyline, you can watch that for yourself.
The spark of genius!
In the middle of the night (like 5 am or so) while binge-watching, I got the sudden realization that a lot of people are actually killing their future success using the same concept!
And most people aren’t even aware that they’re doing it!
Instead of using a notebook, you can easily kill off your chances of success using nothing more than your Mind & your Words.
Let me explain:
Let’s take a look at a common example of somebody who wants to make more cashola. I see people like this everywhere around me, and when I hear them talk I often shake my head.
Here’s the problem:
Often, when I hear people speak about this, they’re not talking about their income goals and their plans to get there. Instead they like to talk about how they’re “broke as f%ck” or “how their financial struggles are killing them” or something along those lines.
The root of your Self-Sabotage
You may argue with me saying: “But, that’s the situation I’m in. That’s just the way things are.”
But it’s an argument you’ll lose. ;)
David Wood, one of my mentors once told me these words of wisdom:
Saying things the way they are, KEEPS them the way they are! Tweet this.
Think about this:
What signals do you give your (subconscious) mind when you say something like “I’m struggling financially, that’s just the way things are.” or “I’m never going to be rich.”?
Is it inspiring?
Is it motivating?
Will it help you reach your goals?
No, nope and not unless your goal is to keep having the same struggles forever.
How your subconscious operates
Before I’ll explain how to stop or limit the self sabotage you’re experiencing, I’ll need to quickly talk about how your mind works.
There’s your conscious mind and the subconscious.
I remember watching a video from Tony Robbins, where he shares that one of the most powerful influences on our actions is who we believe we are (on a subconscious level).
So if you keep telling yourself these limiting beliefs over and over again, you will find yourself sabotaging your own efforts.
Motivation runs out.
You take less action.
You don’t do what you know you should.
And you won’t get the results because of it.
But don’t break down into despair just yet, because there are a couple of ways to put a stop to this self sabotage once and for all.
How to stop self sabotage dead in it’s track!
There are multiple ways to get rid of self sabotage or at the very least limit it’s influence.
I’ve just shot a video to explain 3 of these ways you can implement right away!
