Blogging is one of the best ways to stay in contact with your audience and provide them with massive value at the same time.
But one of the problems many bloggers face is:
“What do I write about?”
In fact in a research done by Ascend2, 41% of small business owners said the lack of content creation is an obstacle to their content marketing.
But getting blog content ideas isn’t difficult at all…
If, and only IF you use the right processes to find the right things to write about.
The 3-Step Formula that gets you unlimited blog content ideas
For quite some time now, I’ve been using a little 3 step formula thought to me by one of my mentors, Ray Higdon.
And it’s pretty easy to use as well. :)
Yet, many people are not using it for some reason, for whatever reason.
It’s called the ILT Formula, which stands for:
Invest, Learn, Teach.
Many people in our profession are actually doing steps 1 and 2, but they don’t do the third crucial step which is to teach.
Allow me to explain the entire formula.
Step 1: Invest your time and money into your education
This should be a no-brainer.
It doesn’t matter what you do, but if you don’t keep improving your knowledge and skills, you’re not going to get to the next level.
There’s no way around it.
Personally, I don’t know anyone ultra successful that doesn’t invest in his or her education.
So this step is actually really easy, in fact you’re already doing it!
The fact that you’re reading this and learning something new, instead of watching Dancing with the Stars, American Idol or <insert show here>.
What’s some other things to invest in? Consider these:
- Training Courses
- Listening to Podcasts
- Blogs like this one
- And the list goes on and on.
Step 2: Go through the training and absorb what it teaches
This thing really shocked me:
Most people that buy a non-fiction book, never go through even the first chapter of it!
Same thing happens with online courses.
We’re talking about people that buy something that could potentially change their life for the better, if only they’d go through the information and apply it!
But you know better, right?
Now, here’s the second part to learning effectively:
You have to take notes.
Grab a pen and paper and write out your notes. Although you could just type it on your computer, I would recommend writing out manually.
Lately I’ve been going through quite a bit of training on the mind and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming). One of the things I’ve learned from that is to engage BOTH the mind and the body.
Writing things down this way will help you make the content a part of you.
By the way, if you’re interested in hearing some of the notes that I’ve taken from those training. Let me know in the comments below.
And the final step in the process that let’s you come up with unlimited blog content topics.
Step 3: Teach, turn your notes into blog content!
This final step is the one that many people miss.
Many people attend webinars, events, and other kinds of training. They even take notes, but then these notes are catching dust somewhere…
What a waste!
This is what my mentor Ray Higdon calls uncashed checks.
The reason we call it that is simple. If you take these notes and do what I’m going to share with you in just a second, you’ll attract more followers, get more leads and ultimately make more money.
Go find some of the notes you’ve taken at some point.
If you got any, then you’ve got blog content ideas. Topics to write a blog post or shoot a video about.
If you have your own blog, share your notes in a blog post. If you don’t have one, shoot a video and post it on Facebook, YouTube and your other social media.
And that’s the three steps.
Use this as a routine content creation process to make pumping out new content way easier.
This Wednesday I’m doing a live webinar where I’ll be taking a deep dive into content generation and using blogs the right way to generate more leads and become an authority in your niche.
